The Municipality of the District of Chester (MOC) supports the revitalization of commercial storefronts and the role this plays in our ability to attract people and grow our economy.
Attractive community cores encourage both residents and visitors to spend more time in our community, which supports successful local businesses.
MOC's Business Façade Program supports improvements to the ‘curb appeal’ of businesses, contributing to the attractiveness and sense of local community character of our community cores.
The goals of the Business Façade Program are to:
- Support rejuvenation of commercial storefronts, spurring re-investment and increasing community pride,
- Encourage both residents and visitors to spend more time in the community,
- Leverage private capital by providing cost-sharing for façade upgrades,
- Create attractive and welcoming places,
- Improve the ‘curb appeal’ of businesses, and
- Contribute to the revitalization of our community cores and preserve a sense of local community character.
Under the program, MOC will contribute up to 50% of approved, eligible costs to a maximum of $5,000 per project. The program is open to customer-facing businesses and not-for-profit organizations, within core commercial zones, for customer-facing and exterior improvements only.
